THE OPPORTUNITY:
Sinking Ship Entertainment Inc. is looking for a dynamic and experienced Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including Corporate and Film Production Accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and the administration and management of accounting policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage accounting operations including A/R, A/P, G/L, Cost Accounting and Revenue recognition
- Lead preparation of quarterly & annual consolidated GAAP Financial statements
- Develop annual corporate budgets, cash flow forecasts and sales projections in collaboration with operational departments
- Direct the preparation of Production Cost reports for multiple projects on a weekly or monthly basis, providing analysis on variances from budget
- Manage and comply with reporting requirements for statutory filings, including T2 corporate income tax returns with tax credit claims
- Coordinate payroll and benefits recording and allocation with Human Resources/Payroll department
- Develop and document internal controls, business systems & processes and accounting policies
- Manage corporate and production accounting staff
- Report to external financial participants in conjunction with Business Affairs and Distribution
- Manage relationship with financial institutions, directing financing activities, monitoring bank and loan accounts and compliance with bank covenants;
- Manage relationship with external auditors, coordinating the annual financial statement audit as well as any cost report audits required
- Other tasks or requirements maybe directed and assigned
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- 5 years supervisory experience in a senior accounting role in a multi-entity environment – Film and television Production industry experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with tax credit tracking and administration;
- Experience with CRA Corporate (T2) and Film Production tax credit Audits
- Knowledge of standard film and television accounting practices.
- Must possess cash and treasury management skills for multiple bank accounts and projects concurrently.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands on a consistent basis.
- Exceptional organization and communication skills
- The ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Knowledge of production and corporate accounting software
- EP SmartAccounting and Oracle Netsuite experience is an asset
