Sinking Ship Lands New Sales for Annedroids and Odd Squad
Toronto, Canada (July 28, 2022) - Canada’s Sinking Ship Entertainment (SSE) today announced new sales for 17-time Emmy® Award-winning kids’ comedic math series, Odd Squad, and 22-time Emmy-nominated Amazon Prime original children’s STEM series, Annedroids. The series have been picked up by new broadcast partners internationally with POP (UK) and Mexican educational broadcast television network Canal Once (seasons III and IV) added for Annedroids and Kixi (Germany) added for Odd Squad.
“Both Annedroids and Odd Squad continue to travel the world and add new broadcast partners and fans, as they both resonate with kids and parents all over,” said Kate Sanagan, Sinking Ship’s Head of Sales and Distribution.
Odd Squad is an Emmy® and BAFTA-winning live-action comedy series for kids 5-8 about a high-tech organization run by kids that investigates odd phenomena and uses math to put things right again. The series features a core team of young agents whose problem-solving, teamwork, and perseverance help them to overcome the everchanging oddness in each episode. Odd Squad was created by Tim McKeon and Adam Peltzman and is co-produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment and Fred Rogers Productions for PBS KIDS, in association with TVOkids. The fan-favorite series premiered on TVOkids in Canada and PBS KIDS in the United States in November of 2014. The series has garnered critical praise throughout the world, and an accompanying Odd Squad movie starring Jack McBrayer was released in 2016.
Annedroids, a live-action/CGI blended series, is the story of budding scientist Anne who builds robots to help her perform experiments with her friends Nick and Shania, and her android creations. This series celebrates science, technology, engineering and math, and does it all through the lens of an 11-year old girl. The Amazon Prime original series was created by J.J. Johnson and produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment in association with broadcasters TVOkids, SRC and KiKa.
This expansion comes on the heels of the recent acquisition of Odd Squad by HBO Max for non-exclusive SVOD rights to the first two seasons for Latin America. The series is set to premiere on the platform this year.
Since its founding in 2004, Sinking Ship has won 24 Daytime Emmy® awards, including series wins for Ghostwriter (Apple TV+), Dino Dan: Trek’s Adventures (Nickelodeon), Odd Squad (PBS KIDS, TVOkids), and Giver (ION) and was named the Most Innovative Producer at the 2021 Banff World Media Festival.
